Longhorn To Focus on Usability, Security

At Microsoft's Management Summit in Las Vegas, the Longhorn floodgates opened, with executives from Steve Ballmer to Bill Gates talking about what users can expect from the new system.

Much of the focus has been on usability enhancements, with Ballmer claiming it would take 70 percent fewer reboots than previous Windows versions.

The system also will offer more secure user-access technologies so that, in the case of home users, parents will have greater control over restricting Web surfing.

New graphics processing also will make the user interface more intuitive, executives promised. (Via Yahoo! News)
