Why Usability Searches are Popular in India

Usability in India...

"UsabilityNews recently published a Google Trends graphic showing the relationship between 'Usability' and 'User Experience'. I also observed that Bangalore was, per search, the place in the world most likely to use these terms.

Several readers were intrigued by this fact and responded. Here is what Larry Constantine, Chief Scientist of Constantine & Lockwood, had to say:

'Chennai, Mumbai, and Bangalore show at or near the top in searches on many software engineering or design topics (e.g., "use case") for reasons obviously connected with the software outsourcing industry. (In checking many software engineering terms, I noticed India and Malaysia often dominating. One possibility is that professionals there may be more likely than their counterparts in Europe and the U.S. to Google a technical topic, perhaps because the latter have more access to or familiarity with other resources.)

'Another interesting trend comparison is "interaction design" and "user interface design." Both have been falling over time, but interaction design is increasing in relative popularity. The regional/locale comparison is also interesting, with user interfaces generally more popular in Asia and interaction more so in the West (San Francisco, notwithstanding)."   continued ...   (Via Usability News)
